Spravato (Esketamine) is a medication administered via nasal spray. It is approved for treatment resistant depression (TRD) and is covered by most health insurance. It is a controlled medication and is regulated via the Spravato Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) Program. It can only be administered at certified healthcare settings under the supervision of qualified physician. Please note that the medication cannot be taken home. Certain precautions need to be observed such as not driving the rest of the day after the treatment. Fortunately, the treatments are not daily and long term maintenance treatment is an option.
